Born Demetrice Vashaun Williams on Oct. 17, 1980 at Albany, Ga…father is Darren Williams...has a younger brother and sister...thinks about his best friend (Michael Reid) who was killed in a car accident to get pumped for games and dedicated his basketball career to Reid...Williams wears the game shorts of Reid during all games that he plays...gets dressed the same for every game
Outlook:
Demetrice is a lightning quick guard with good size and is an incredible athlete. Demetrice is a point guard who can run a team and can also score. He is great in transition (fast break) and can also make the open shot. Demetrice is great in the pick and roll, punishing defences with penetration, his jump shot and assists. He is a smart player that makes good decisions and keeps a team under control. Demetrice will lead any league in which he plays, in steals. His quickness and size allows him to defend any guard on the floor and take any team out of there offence. Most of all Demetrice is a winner, and a great person. He is a true leader and is ready to make a strong impact where ever he goes. Any organization or society would be lucky to have him.
John Pelphrey's (University of South Alabama Head Coach) Background of Demetrice Williams: "Combo guard who possesses tremendous speed and quickness. Great defender with his size and quickness; Scores every way possible; All he needs is 4 guys around him that know how to play. Can knock down open jumper but is a constant threat off the dribble with his speed. Can finish strong at the basket with his 35" vertical jump. Great character off the floor and a very good person. Will do anything to win.
